Olafemi B. Akintunde

Olafemi B. Akintunde is a Workforce Development Program Manager at Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice and the Director of the Ubuntu Leadership Institute. With over 15 years of experience across education, juvenile justice, and community-based organizations, his work centers on healing-centered engagement, workforce development, and leadership cultivation for young people impacted by systemic inequities.

Olafemi brings a unique ability to bridge personal transformation with professional pathways. At CURYJ, he designs and leads programs that equip youth and young adults with the skills, mindset, and support needed to access meaningful employment while navigating systems of harm and healing. His approach integrates culturally responsive practices, restorative justice principles, and real-world skill building to prepare participants not just for jobs—but for sustainable growth and leadership.

Previously, as a Senior Trainer with Flourish Agenda, Olafemi developed and facilitated workshops rooted in Healing Centered Engagement, supporting thousands of participants and organizations in adopting practices that strengthen culture, connection, and performance. His work as a teacher and Dean of Students within Oakland Unified School District and as a program facilitator in juvenile hall reflects a deep commitment to supporting youth most impacted by structural inequities.

As the Director of the Ubuntu Leadership Institute, Olafemi has built transformative programming that empowers boys and men of color to explore identity, challenge harmful social constructs, and develop leadership grounded in purpose and accountability.

His work has been featured in the Detroit Free Press, the African American Male Achievement documentary Kingmakers, and publications by the Campaign for Black Male Achievement. A graduate of California State University, East Bay with a degree in Sociology, Olafemi is also a credentialed educator and certified Radical Healing facilitator.

Olafemi remains deeply committed to creating pathways where healing, opportunity, and leadership intersect, ensuring that young people are not only prepared to enter the workforce, but to transform the communities they come from.
