Katarina Sayally is a Dream Beyond Bars Fellow. She is a mother, writer, and community organizer. As a single mother she relies heavily on love, community, and ancestral knowledge in her familial healing journey. In 2019, she graduated with a Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. However, she credits a childhood spent between group homes, juvenile detention, and the streets throughout the Bay Area with her real education. After more than 10 years of policy advocacy work, Katarina remains dedicated to stability, dreams, and freedom for all system involved youth and their children. She is a proud supporter of the Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition and sits on the Advisory Board for Foster Youth Museum.
