Jose Herrera

Dream Beyond Bars Fellow


Jose connected with CURYJ in 2022 when he first came into contact with the system. Through his time with CURYJ he has done a lot of community work. Jose was a Homies 4 Justice intern in 2022 and 2023, participated in the 10-month policy fellowship at Fresh Lifelines for Youth, and participated in the 2023 Dream Beyond Bars Leadership Institute. As a DBB Fellow Jose continues to engage with CURYJ events and projects.

Currently enrolled at Laney College, Jose is working towards a certificate in welding. His current goals are to work toward a stable career, and to learn more about business, cars and hopes to find an opportunity to serve as a life coach or mentor in the future.

In his free time Jose likes to stay active in the outdoors swimming and hiking, listening to music and has a passion for cars.
