Daniela Medina is from Oakland, CA, and is the Assistant Director of Berkeley Underground Scholars where she leads the retention efforts and helps create pathways for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals into higher education. She previously worked at Community & Youth Outreach, managing violence prevention services as well as the intensive adult life coaching strategies that provide direct service to those reentering the community after incarceration. Daniela’s commitment to social justice is motivated by her direct lived experience. She is a certified life coach and the co-founder and host of the Berkeley Underground Scholars podcast, On The Tier. Daniela holds a BA in Social Welfare and a Master in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley where she was awarded the 2021 Dean’s Award for Social Justice.
