She/They

Ama (she/they) is a queer advocate for liberation who believes deeply in the power of community healing, trauma-informed approaches to repair, and the people most impacted by legacies of oppression. Their enthusiasm for CURYJ’s mission is grounded in her lived experiences healing through systems impacted intergenerational trauma. Ama is a first generation college graduate with a Bachelors in Sociology from The University of San Francisco. Her experience in direct services has spanned across affordable housing, transitional housing for previously homeless sex trafficking survivors, tenants rights work, and youth fostering and development. Ama was born and raised in the Bay Area and is a daughter of immigrants rooted in the Bisayan Waray people of the Philippines and Paez people of Colombia. Ama finds healing in ancestral and earthly connection and utilizes movement and creative practices as emotional release.
